I think I'm in the wrong place.

I am me, surfing the net, and making decisions on how and where I spend my time. In other words, I know perfectly well where I stand. :)

May flusterdance smack me if I'm wrong, but the forums, as they were, don't actually seem to exist on Livejournal. Therefore you don't have to un-friend yourself from each and every Hobb board on LJ, and if you want this event to pass you by, simply don't go to the site of the imaginary forums which obviously don't exist on LJ, anyway. No one's going to stuff fanfiction up your nose, unless you want them to.

Maybe I should have explained myself instead of just saying that I'm leaving. I just didn't think anyone would really care to know. There are several reasons, one of them being that I have tried to cut down my LJ communities because my friendslist is too hectic at the moment. Another reason is that I joined this community expecting too see all kinds of posts related to the Fool - and that was how things were in the beginning. Lately however, the community seems to be about promoting fanfic and getting people involved in writing it, and that's just not my cup of tea, so I have no reason to keep reading this community. And yet one more reason is that the tone of posts like this one (the mod's) make me feel uncomfortable every time. I know I'm not alone in this, several other fans from the RH newsgroup have mentioned it too. Besides, I don't think that those of you who are pro-fanfic enjoy my rants against it, and I can't promise that I could keep my mouth shut if I stay.
Oh, and I'm not un-friending myself from each and every Hobb board on LJ. :) There are still communities where people seem to respect the author, and that's where I can spend my time more comfortably.
I didn't mean to offend anyone, and I'm sad that you seem to be somewhat angry. My leaving this (and previously that one other group) is not because I feel I could make a difference by boycotting, but because it just doesn't feel good to stay.

The community that I made to celebrate the Fool is effectively dead, and I've just been using its corpse for my own nefarious devices a-la Weekend at Bernie's.
If Fitzfiction bothers you, you have every right to leave. I understand that some people don't share either my views on amateur creativity or my flagrant disregard for authority. I believe that it's Hobb, not her fans, that are in the right here-- but that's just me. Like I said-- if you want to go, bai bai and thank you for being a part of the community in its prime.
If an author wants respect, she wants to earn it. Being a good author, and a respected one, are two very different things.

I'm glad the matter seems to be resolved and both of us seem to understand each other's opinion. (I hope) we will meet elsewhere in the fandom, so it's good to know we just agree to disagree. No hard feelings on my part. :)

November 30th? Excellent, that's a lot of time for a mind works slower than a whale in heat (-> mine). I think I'll do something with the end phase of the books, since the end in and of itself is LE RIDICULOUS, or maybe--ooh, that's a nice thought. >D Eee! My writing demons were all stuck in the mechanisms and now you're clearing them out and letting frolick about naked, which means I've got inspiration pending, which makes me feel immensely better, for which I thank you.
